Troy Earns Five All-Sun Belt Selections

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Four sophomores combined for five Sun Belt All-Conference selections for the Troy men's and women's tennis teams as announced by the league on Thursday night.
For the Troy men, Gabriel Sciacca Dias was a first team singles selection while Daniel Bustamante was a second team singles selection. For the Troy women, Trang Huynh was a first team singles selection while Anja Cosovic landed was a second team singles selection. Huynh and Cosovic combined for a first team doubles selection as well.
Dias, a sophomore, posted a 13-9 singles record on the season, playing mostly at the No. 1 spot in the Trojans' lineup. He posted two wins over ranked opponents including one in the final week of the season over No. 80 Chris Helliar of UAB. Dias closed the regular season with six straight wins and wins in 10 of 11.
Bustamante, also a sophomore, posted an 11-9 singles record on the season, playing mostly at No. 3 and No. 4 in the Troy lineup. Bustamante won seven of nine matches in the middle of the season, helping Troy turn things around after a slow start to the spring. Included in that stretch was a straight-set win over regionally ranked Wilfredo Gonzalez of #65 Miami.
The Troy men (8-16) open Sun Belt Championships play on Friday against UT Arlington at the City Park Tennis Center in New Orleans, La. Troy is the fifth seed in the tournament while UTA is the fourth seed. The match will begin at 3 p.m.
Huynh, a sophomore, posted a 17-4 singles record this season, playing mostly at the No. 1 spot in Troy's lineup. Huynh closed the regular season on a 10-match winning streak and two of her four losses on the season came to national-ranked opponents. She also won three Sun Belt Athlete of the Week awards during the season.
Cosovic, another sophomore, posted a 17-3 singles record on the season, playing mostly at No. 3 in the Trojans' lineup. She closed the regular season with nine wins in 10 matches. In one of her three matches, she was forced to retire.
Huynh and Cosovic combined for a 17-2 record on the season, playing all of their matches in the No. 1 spot in the Trojans' lineup. The duo won 16 straight matches to close the regular season and hasn't loss a match since January 25. The Sun Belt All-Conference doubles selection is second in as many years for Cosovic.
The Troy women (14-7) open Sun Belt Championships play on Friday morning against Texas State. Troy is the fourth seed in the tournament while Texas State is the fifth seed. The match will begin at 8 a.m.
