Troy Football Pro Day a Success for Many NFL Hopefuls

TROY, Ala. – Sixteen former Troy football players, and several players from other local schools, worked out for 16 NFL scouts on Monday at Troy's annual Pro Day at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

TROY, Ala. – Sixteen former Troy football players, and several players from other local schools, worked out for 16 NFL scouts on Monday at Troy's annual Pro Day at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Players took the Wonderlic Test and were measured for height and weight before the physical tests, which included the vertical jump, broad jump, 225-pound bench press, 40-yard dash, shuttle run and the three-cone drill.

Quarterback Deon Anthony, who also went through wide receiver drills, posted a 36.5-inch vertical jump, ran a 4.44 in the 40-yard dash and clocked a time of 4.22 in the shuttle run to impress the scouts in attendance.

Wide receiver Eric Thomas was also solid on the Veterans Memorial Stadium turf with a 4.5 in the 40-yard dash and a 4.25 in the shuttle run, while making several nice grabs from quarterback Corey Robinson on deep passes.

The best 40-yard dash came from wide receiver Wilson Van Hooser who sprinted to a 4.40 time, while wide receiver Chris Williams turned in a time of 4.44. Van Hooser also had the best vertical jump of the day at 39 inches, while Xavier Melton had the most reps at 225 pounds with 35. Â Safety Camren Hudson turned in a solid all-around performance with 27 reps on the bench press and a 4.47 40-yard dash.

Will Scott showed off his leg as both a punter and a place kicker for several of the scouts and left them impressed after several booming kickoffs and multiple field goals from over 50 yards.
