Troy Baseball Travels to Take On Alabama State

TROY, Ala. – The Troy University baseball team will travel to Montgomery to face a red-hot Alabama State team on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast on WTBF 970 AM with live audio and stats streamed on TroyTrojans.com.

The Trojans (9-7) are coming off a series win over New Orleans. Trevin Hall led the way offensively and is batting .364 on the season with a Sun Belt Conference-high four home runs.

As a team, Troy has hit 17 home runs in 16 games, the most in the league and third most nationally. The Trojan pitching staff leads the conference in strikeouts (140) and are third in team ERA (3.08).

Freshman RHP Jesse Nelson (1-0, 4.50) will likely get the start on the mound for Troy. Nelson last pitched a week ago against Samford getting the start and going four innings allowing four runs on seven hits.

Alabama State (15-4, 7-0 SWAC) will likely send RHP Michael Estevez (2-1, 3.38) to the bump. Estevez has recorded 18 strikeouts in 16 innings while walking nine batters in three starts. The Hornets swept Alcorn State over the weekend in a three-game series.

Troy second baseman Garrett Pitts enters Tuesday's game riding a 10-game hitting streak and has reached base in all 16 games this season.
