Â
TROY, Alabama – Troy has added Charleston Southern to its 2015 football schedule to replace the game vacated by UAB, Troy Athletics Director John Hartwell announced Wednesday. Troy will host Charleston Southern on Sept. 12, 2015, in Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Â
This will be the fourth all-time meeting between the two schools and the first since a 66-7 Troy victory in 1995. The Trojans have dominated the series as they won the other two meetings by scores of 56-0 and 55-20 in 1993 and 1994, respectively.
Â
The Buccaneers are coming off an 8-4 season, which included games at Vanderbilt and Georgia. Charleston Southern, which plays in the Big South Conference, is 18-7 over the past two seasons under the direction of head coach Jamey Chadwell.
Â
With the addition of Charleston Southern, Troy's non-conference schedule for the 2015 season is now complete. The Trojans open at North Carolina State on Sept. 5 in the first game of a home-and-home series. Following the home game against Charleston Southern on Sept. 12, Troy travels to Wisconsin on Sept. 19 and Mississippi State on Oct. 24. The game at Mississippi State is the final one in a 2-for-1 series that brought the Bulldogs to Troy in 2012.
Â
The Sun Belt Conference is expected to release the 2015 league schedule on March 1. Troy will host Georgia Southern, Idaho, ULM and South Alabama, while traveling to New Mexico State, UL Lafayette, Georgia State and Appalachian State.
