Trojans Look for 1,000th Program Win

CLARKSVILLE, Tennessee - The Troy men's basketball team is looking to find the program's 1,000th win on Monday as it travels to Dave Aaron Arena to face Austin Peay. The Trojans currently sit at a record of 999-807 (.553) in their 65 years. The matchup between the Trojans and Governors is slated for 7 p.m.

The Trojans (4-3) are in the midst of a three-game winning streak. In its wins over Alcorn State, Central Arkansas and Fort Valley State, Troy has averaged 16.7 more points than its opponent. A win over Austin Peay would give the Trojans the most wins in a row since the 2009-10 team won seven straight games spanning from 2/13/10 to 3/8/10.

In the first half in Troy's last four games, the Trojans have shot 50 percent or better. At the Dothan Civic Center, against Fort Valley State, Troy shot 58 percent from the floor in the first.

Musa Abdul-Aleem is the team's leading scorer for the first time this year, averaging 15.0 points per game. ÂÂHe has tallied four double-digit games in four starts. He has also paced the Trojans three times this year.

Preseason All-Sun Belt selection Kevin Thomas enters the game as the Sun Belt's leading rebounder, averaging 8.4 rebounds per contest. He currently ranks 10th in the nation, averaging 4.1 offensive boards per contest. The Ajax, Ontario, native is also shooting 60 percent from the floor, which ranks him at 11th best in the country and second best in the Sun Belt.

Austin Peay (2-7) is coming off of three straight losses. On Saturday, the Governors dropped their first home contest since mid-November as they fell to Lipscomb, 68-59. The Governors were led by Ed Dyson, who paced Austin Peay with 21 points. Dyson shot 55 percent on the night, including 4-of-8 from beyond the arc, while tallying six boards. Kahlil Davis reeled in a game-high 10 rebounds.

The matchup between the Trojans and Governors is just the second in school history. Austin Peay holds a 1-0 advantage after it defeated Troy 80-53 in 1977.
