Â
ATLANTA – The Troy volleyball team closes its season this weekend with road trips to Georgia State and South Alabama on Friday and Saturday, respectively. The Trojans will take on Georgia State at 5 p.m. CST on Friday, and then travel to South Alabama for a 6 p.m. match on Saturday.
Â
Links to live stats and live video for both matches can be found on the volleyball schedule page at TroyTrojans.com.Â
Â
Troy (9-21, 1-17) has played just one match in the last 12 days, falling at Texas State last Saturday in three sets. The Trojans will be looking to snap a 17-match losing streak and avoid season sweeps to Georgia State and South Alabama who both swept Troy earlier this season in Trojan Arena.
Â
Junior libero Ali Dowdall will be looking to make history for Troy as she enters the weekend with 554 digs on the season, just 10 away from breaking the single-season school record of 563.
Â
Dowdall is averaging 4.82 digs/set overall and 5.51 digs/set in Sun Belt play. She has posted 10-plus digs in 23 straight matches, including in every Sun Belt match. Dowdall has recorded 20-plus digs nine times this season and 30-plus digs three times.
Â
Offensively, junior Blair Winston has led the Trojans this season with 335 kills and a 2.99 kills/set average. Freshman setter Reina Terry is averaging 9.18 assists/set since taking over as the Trojans primary setter five matches ago.
Â
Georgia State (9-18, 7-11) currently sits in seventh place in the Sun Belt standings and is playing for a place in next week's eight-team Sun Belt Championships. The Panthers lost at UT Arlington and Texas State last weekend, but prior to that had won five of seven matches.
Â
South Alabama (11-17, 6-12) is currently tied for eighth place in the Sun Belt standings with Georgia Southern. The Jaguars have lost six of their last seven matches, with the lone win coming last weekend over Appalachian State.
Â
In its Division I history, Troy is 10-13 against Georgia State and 21-19 against South Alabama, including this season's earlier losses.
