Troy Travels to Louisiana for Two Matches

MONROE, Louisiana – The Troy volleyball team will look to get back on track this weekend when it travels to take on ULM and UL Lafayette. The Trojans will first take on ULM on Friday at 7 p.m. at Fant-Ewing Coliseum. Troy will then travel to UL Lafayette for a Saturday match at 7 p.m. at Earl K. Long Gym.

Troy (9-11, 1-7) has lost seven straight Sun Belt matches after starting conference play with a win over Georgia Southern. The Trojans most recent match came on Wednesday night as South Alabama defeated Troy in three sets at Trojan Arena.

Offensively, Blair Winston leads the Trojans at 2.91 kills/set overall on the season. In Sun Belt play, Symone Shaw has a team-high 2.73 kills/set. The Trojans are hitting .201 on the season with Tineille Waggoner posting 9.54 assists/set.

Defensively, Ali Dowdall is averaging 4.66 digs/set overall and 5.94 digs/set in Sun Belt play, the second best mark in the league. As a team, the Trojans are averaging 2.11 blocks/set, making them one of three teams in the league averaging more than 2.00.

ULM (6-14, 0-7) is the only team in the Sun Belt yet to win a conference game. The Warhawks have lost seven straight, including a home match on Wednesday night to UL Lafayette. ULM did pick up a win over Mississippi State during the season's opening weekend.

Troy is 10-1 all-time against ULM, with the Warhawks lone win coming last season in five sets in Monroe. That loss made Troy 3-1 in Monroe.

UL Lafayette (14-4, 4-4) has won four of its last five matches, including Wednesday's sweep at ULM. The Ragin' Cajuns started the season 10-0 before losing their first three Sun Belt matches. However, the Cajuns have rebounded as of late, including a win over Sun Belt front runner Appalachian State.

Troy is 8-6 all-time against UL Lafayette, including a 1-3 mark in Lafayette. The two sides split last season's two meetings with each home team winning. Troy hasn't won in Lafayette since 2008.

The Ragin' Cajuns will host UALR on Friday night before welcoming Troy to town on Saturday.

Following this weekend's two road matches, Troy will return home for three straight at Trojan Arena beginning with a match against UALR on Friday, October 17.
