Troy Hosts Georgia State on Saturday

TROY, Alabama – The Troy volleyball team will close out its three-match homestand on Saturday when Georgia State visits Trojan Arena for a 7 p.m. match. Admission to all home Troy volleyball matches is FREE.

Troy (9-15, 1-11) is looking to snap an 11-match losing streak, which has included many close matches. Six of the 11 losses have come in five sets, and last weekend's four-set losses to UALR and UT Arlington were close as well.Â

The final set of the loss to Sun Belt leader UALR ended 31-29, while the second set of the UT Arlington match was the Trojans' longest set of the season, ending with a final score of 37-35.

Blair Winston's 2.93 kills/set overall and 2.78 kills/set in Sun Belt play lead the Trojans. She is one of four averaging over 2.00 kills/set, joining Marija Zelenovic, Symone Shaw and Kiah Cheatham.

Defensively, Ali Dowdall averages 4.80 digs/set overall and 5.75 digs/set in Sun Belt play, the second best mark in the conference. Dowdall, the reigning Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week, has double-figure digs in every Sun Belt match this season, including 20-plus digs in seven of the 12 matches.

Georgia State (5-14, 3-7) defeated Texas State, the Sun Belt's second place team, in its most recent match. However, the Panthers are just 1-7 away from the GSU Sports Arena this season, which is where they will host UL Lafayette on Friday night before traveling to Troy.

Troy is 10-12 all-time against Georgia State, but the Trojans have won five of the last six matches, including both last season. Troy is 4-4 all-time at home against the Panthers.

Following Saturday's match, Troy will have just seven matches remaining in the regular season, with just two of them coming at home.
