Trojans Set to Host UALR and UT Arlington

TROY, Alabama – The Troy volleyball team will host a pair of Sun Belt matches this weekend as UALR and UT Arlington visit Trojan Arena on Friday and Sunday, respectively.Â
Â
Troy and UALR will get underway at 6 p.m. on Friday while Sunday's match with UT Arlington will begin at 12 p.m. Live stats and live video for both matches can be found at TroyTrojans.com. Fans can also follow the matches on Twitter by following @TroyTrojansVB.

Troy (9-13, 1-9) is looking to snap a nine-match losing streak. The Trojans dropped two, five-set matches last weekend at ULM and UL Lafayette. Six of Troy's nine Sun Belt losses have come in five sets. In all, there have been 10, five-set matches in the Sun Belt this season with Troy involved in six of them.

Blair Winston leads the Trojans offensively with 2.88 kills/set overall and 2.65 kills/set in Sun Belt play. Three other Trojans are averaging over 2.00 kills/set overall and in conference, including Marija Zelenovic, Symone Shaw and Kiah Cheatham.

Defensively, Ali Dowdall leads the way at 4.53 digs/set overall and 5.37 digs/set in Sun Belt play. The Trojans are averaging 2.11 blocks/set overall, led by Darby Griff's 0.95 blocks/set.

UALR (15-4, 9-0) has won 10 straight matches, including nine to start Sun Belt play. The Trojans most recently swept Arkansas State at home on Tuesday. UALR has lost just four sets in their nine Sun Belt matches.

Troy is 2-8 all-time against UALR, including a 1-4 mark at home. UALR won both of last season's meetings, including a five-set match at Trojan Arena.

UT Arlington (16-5, 6-3) has won three straight matches, including sweeps last weekend at South Alabama and at home against Appalachian State. Troy and UTA have already met once this season with the Mavericks winning in five sets. That match was the first in Troy's current nine-match losing streak.

Troy is now 1-3 all-time against UT Arlington with all four meetings going into five sets. Last season, each home team won in the regular season, but UTA defeated Troy in five sets in the Sun Belt Championships semifinals at Trojan Arena.
