TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's basketball team is set to host UL Monroe on Thursday. Tipoff is set for 5:15 p.m. at Trojan Arena. The Trojans have played three of their first four Sun Belt games on the road and will look to snap a seven-game losing streak as they return home.
Live stats, live video and a FREE live audio broadcast will be available at TroyTrojans.com. Fans in the Troy area can also hear the broadcast on WTBF 94.7 FM. For live, in-game updates on Twitter, follow @TroyWomensBBall.
Troy (4-11, 0-4) has lost seven straight, with six of those losses coming on the road. The most recent was last Saturday at UALR where Troy lost 69-52. Troy posted its second worst field goal percentage of the season and scored its fewest points of the season.
However, despite the low-scoring effort at UALR, Troy still leads the Sun Belt in scoring at 79.9 points per game. The Trojans feature the 27th ranked scoring offense in the nation and also rank in the NCAA top 40 in blocks (4.7 bpg) and steals (10.5 spg).
Joanna Harden leads the Trojans offensively, averaging 24.1 points per game. That scoring average is the sixth best in the nation, and the best in the Sun Belt by nearly 6.0 points over second place (18.2 ppg). Harden has scored 20-plus in 11 of 15 games this season.Â
Earlier this week, Harden was named to the Lieberman Award watch list. The award recognizes the top point guard in women's NCAA Division I college basketball and is awarded by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Harden was one of 29 players on the watch list, and the only player from the Sun Belt.
ULM (6-9, 2-1) comes into Thursday's contest having won its last two games. The Warhawks won at UT Arlington, 84-67, before returning home to knock off Texas State, 78-52. Prior to those two wins, ULM had lost four straight.
The Warhawks are led by senior Ashleigh Simmons who is fifth in the Sun Belt in scoring at 15.4 points per game and third in rebounding at 7.8 boards per game.
Troy is 3-11 all-time against ULM, including a 1-4 mark at home. The Warhawks have won five straight games in the series, including both of last season's meetings.
