TROY, Ala. – Following two practices on Thursday, the Troy football team went through an abbreviated session Friday morning with a two-hour workout on the turf in Veterans Memorial Stadium. The Trojans will scrimmage for the first time of the fall on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.

"We didn't tackle to the ground today and it looked like we maybe did a little cruising, especially on offense," head coach Larry Blakeney said. "Looking forward to tomorrow. We will have officials and hopefully will learn a little more about ourselves. Hopefully we come out of it injury free and better. I think it will be a good experience for us and I think we'll get around 80 to 100 snaps."

Following the scrimmage the Troy coaches and players will head into the Veterans Memorial Stadium press box to take part in the annual Media Day.

Saturday's scrimmage will mark 21 days until Troy hosts UAB to open the 2013 season. Kickoff between the Trojans and Blazers is set for 6 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
