Troy Athletics Launches Student Affinity Program

TROY, Ala. – Troy University Director of Athletics John Hartwell announced Tuesday the launch of Troy's Student Affinity Program (TAP) to help build awareness and attendance in support of Troy Athletics.

"The lifeblood of college athletics is the students and we wanted a way to thank our students for supporting all of our athletic teams," Hartwell said. "We have a very passionate student body at Troy and it is our goal with TAP to not only enhance our game day atmosphere, but also grow the Trojan Nation by building awareness within our student population."

Students will earn points for attending Troy athletic events on campus throughout the year. For ticketed events (football, basketball, baseball), students will have their Troy ID scanned at the gate to grant admission to the venue and register the student's points for attending the event.

For events that do not require a ticket for admission, students will have their ID scanned at random times during the event to earn their points. Throughout the year Troy will announce several bonus events where students can earn extra points.

"The new TAP initiative is a distinct partnership between the SGA, the student body and the Athletics Department," Troy SGA President Cody Farrill said. "This program will not only continue our excellent student fan base here a Troy, but also expand it throughout all of our athletic programs. We as the SGA are here to promote Trojan Pride and this program will not only honor our student athletes with their support, but also provide student-fans with the opportunity to receive their own benefits for being a fan. TAP will bring about a new culture at Troy. We are Trojans one and all and are here to support our campus!"

Students will have the opportunity to earn rewards ranging from a Troy Adidas T-Shirt, to lunch with Hartwell and Trojan coaches, to an autographed ball. At the end of the year, five book scholarships will be raffled off and the top point getter for the year will receive free tuition for a semester. The Athletics Department will announce pickup times for rewards throughout the year via Facebook, Twitter and TroyTrojans.com/TAP.
