OXFORD, Miss. – The Troy women's golf team used three individual scores of two-over or better to wrap up play at the M&F Bank Rebel Intercollegiate on Sunday with a team score 297 to finish the tournament 13th.
Prior to Sunday's final 18 holes, only one Troy score was carded at two-under or better, but Sofia Bjorkman, Sara Fennvik, and Brooke Spinks all shot 74 or better on Sunday to improve the Trojans' team score by 11 strokes from Saturday's 308 performance.
Bjorkman began play on the 15th and birdied three times through the first 12 holes to enter the ninth at three-under. The senior bogeyed the ninth and entered the final stretch at two-under, but double bogeyed the 13th and bogeyed the 14th to drop to one-over, 73, to finish the tournament tied for 19th; her finish of T19th marks her ninth-straight top-25 finish in 2012-13 entering her final tournament of the season, the Sun Belt Championships next week.
After finishing at seven-over on Friday and Saturday, Fennvik improved to a two-over, 74, to finish tied for 65th at 16-over overall. Fennvik carded even-par on 16 of her 18 holes, and finished at just one-over on the remaining two to finish at Troy's second-lowest competitor.
Spinks bounced back from a 10-over par, 82, on Saturday to just a one-over, 73, on Sunday, to finish tied for 68th. The sophomore finished with four bogeys and three birdies to complete the 54-hole event at 17-over, 233 overall.
Sydney Conrad finished tied for 74th with a 234, and Langley Vannoy finished tied for 83rd at 241.
Coastal Carolina's Jessica Alexander turned in a three round total of 208 to claim individual honors by just one stroke over Baylor Hayley Davis, while Coastal Carolina picked up the team win with a one-under par, 863, to lead the field by nine strokes over three days.
Troy will have just a week off before returning to play in the final event of the year, the Sun Belt Conference Championship on April 14-17 in Muscle Shoals.
