Women's Golf Third Entering SBC Final Round

MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – The Troy women's golf team shot a 9-over, 297, on Tuesday to complete the second round of the Sun Belt Championships at the Fighting Joe Golf Course.

The Trojans sit at 22-over entering Wednesday, and trail second place Middle Tennessee by 7 strokes, and leader FIU by 13.

Sofia Bjorkman bounced back on day two after finishing at five-over on Monday, to shoot just a one-over, 73, on Tuesday to lead the Trojans. The senior triple bogeyed the second hole before making par on eight straight holes to make the turn at three-over. She then strung together three straight birdies on 11-13 to get back to even-par. Bjorkman closed out the final four holes with two bogeys, a birdie, and a par to finish the day at 73 tied for 10^th.

Sydney Conrad saw her score improve by 11 strokes on Tuesday after opening the tournament Monday with a 13-over par, 85. Conrad birdied two of her first five holes to open play before carding four straight bogeys to make the turn at two-over. She went on to shoot par on the entire back nine to finish the day at two-over, 74, tied for 40^th entering Wednesday's final round.

Troy's lowest player on Monday, Sara Fennvik, shot a three-over, 75, on Tuesday after carding an even-par 72 to open the tournament. Fennvik finished with one birdie, four bogeys and one triple bogey to finish the day at 78, tied for 10^th entering Wednesday.

Langley Vannoy sits as Troy's third-lowest player entering Wednesday after finishing at three-over on Tuesday. Vannoy birdied the first hole before bogeying the sixth and 10^th, and double-bogeying the 12^th to finish the day at 75. The sophomore enters Wednesday tied for 15^th at seven-over overall, 151.

Brooke Spinks turned in Troy's dropped score with a 16-over, 88.

FIU again led the field of 11 with a one-under par, 287, to lead Middle Tennessee who shot a 289. Meghan MacLaren used a four-under, 68, to jump to the top spot in the individual standings, just three strokes ahead of second place.

Wednesday's final round of the Sun Belt Championships will begin at 8 a.m. from the Fighting Joe, and live scoring will be available through GolfStat.com
