TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's basketball team (11-19, 6-13) will close out the regular season at home against South Alabama (16-11, 13-6) at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night. The game will mark senior day, with three Trojans being honored prior to tip-off. Three historic teams will be celebrating their reunions at the game as well.
Live stats, audio and video will be available on the men's basketball schedule page on TroyTrojans.com.
Ray Chambers, Emil Jones and Justin Wright will be honored for their time at Troy prior to the game. Jones currently leads the team in scoring, at 10.9 points per game, while Chambers is tops on the team in rebounding and field goal percentage. Wright has missed much of the season due to injury, but has remained a vocal leader in the locker room.
The 1987-88, 1992-93 and 2002-03 teams will also be present at the game. The 1988 team advanced to the national semifinals, the 1993 team made it all the way to the national championship game and the 2003 team was the first to make the NCAA Tournament at the Division I level. Several players and members of the staff will be back to honor the legendary teams.
Troy was defeated in its last game, falling to Middle Tennessee 66-56. Chambers put together a solid game, scoring 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting and also grabbed eight boards.
South Alabama was defeated on Thursday night at Western Kentucky, 79-73. Player of the year hopeful Augustine Rubit leads the Jaguars with 19.1 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.
Troy is still battling for playoff positioning. The Trojans could face either Florida Atlantic or North Texas in the first round, going into the tournament as either the ninth or 10th seed.
The Trojans are 6-14 all-time against the Jaguars, including a 65-62 loss on the road earlier this year. In the first meeting, Troy hit a big slump midway through the second half and couldn't recover. South Alabama was incredible from the free throw line, hitting its final 20 from the stripe.
