MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Troy women's basketball team will face a tough road test on Sunday as the Trojans travel to face Sun Belt leader Middle Tennessee. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. at the Murphy Center.
Live stats and video will be available through GoBlueRaiders.com. WTBF in Troy will pick up Middle Tennessee's radio broadcast of the game and it can be heard on 94.7 FM.
Troy (4-18, 1-12) comes into the contest after a 74-58 loss at South Alabama on Wednesday in which the Trojans shot just 35 percent, but the Jaguars were over 50 percent overall and from 3-point range.
That loss came on the heels of a 68-61 win over Louisiana-Lafayette last Saturday that snapped a 10-game losing streak for Troy. The 61 points were the fewest allowed by the Trojans this season as they held the Cajuns scoreless for the final three minutes of the game.
Joanna Harden has led the Trojans in scoring in each of the last two games, and has scored in double figures in eight straight. The junior guard is averaging 20.9 points per game over that span and leads the Trojans with 14.0 points per game on the season.
The Troy offense as a whole averages 73.7 points per game, the best mark in the Sun Belt and 16th best in the nation. Troy is also the league's top rebounding team at 41.0 boards per game, despite having just one player over 6-foot tall.
Middle Tennessee (18-5, 13-1) comes into the game having won 12 straight, including a 93-49 win over West Division leader Arkansas State on Wednesday.
The Blue Raiders are led by All-America candidate Ebony Rowe who averages 21.0 points and 10.7 rebounds per game, both second in the Sun Belt. Kortni Jones (15.0 ppg) and Icelyn Elie (14.5 ppg) both average in double figures as well.
Troy is 0-16 all-time against Middle Tennessee, including an 0-8 mark in Murfreesboro. Last season, Troy took the Blue Raiders to overtime at Sartain Hall before falling 72-66, in what was the closest game in series history.
