TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's basketball team will look to put a tough road trip behind it as the Trojans host Sun Belt leader Middle Tennessee on Thursday. Tip-off is set for 5:15 p.m. at Trojan Arena.
Live stats and live video will be available through TroyTrojans.com. Fans in Troy can hear the game on WTBF 94.7 FM. The game marks the second to last of the regular season as the Sun Belt Championships begin in just over a week.
Troy (6-21, 3-15) comes in after two road losses at Louisiana-Lafayette and Arkansas State last week. However, the two losses came after some success as Troy won two of three prior, including a 74-70 overtime win at Middle Tennessee less than three weeks ago.
The win was the first ever for the Trojans over Middle Tennessee and snapped the Blue Raiders 12-game winning streak at the time.
Joanna Harden led the Trojans with 27 points in that game and was named Sun Belt Player of the Week for her efforts, the first such award in program history. Harden has since scored at least 20 points in four of her last five games.
The junior guard is averaging 15.4 points per game on the season, sixth in the Sun Belt, and 18.6 points per game in league play, fourth in the Sun Belt.
Harden leads a Troy offense that averages 71.4 points per game, the best mark in the Sun Belt. The Trojans are also the top rebounding team in the league at 40.7 boards per game.
Middle Tennessee (20-7, 15-3) comes into the regular season's final week with a two-game lead over WKU and looking to clinch the first overall seed at next week's Sun Belt Championships.
The Blue Raiders defeated South Alabama and ULM at home last week and can clinch the Sun Belt Regular Season Championship with a win in either of their final two games.
Troy is 1-16 all-time against Middle Tennessee, including an 0-7 mark in Troy. When the two sides played in Troy last season, the game went to overtime with Middle Tennessee winning that one, 72-66, at Sartain Hall.
