Trojans to Host Louisiana-Lafayette Saturday

TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's basketball team (9-13, 4-7) returns home on Saturday to face Louisiana-Lafayette (8-15, 4-8) at 7:30 p.m. It is the first meeting between the two teams this season.

Troy lost a close game at Western Kentucky on Thursday night, falling to the Hilltoppers, 65-61. Troy took a brief lead in the second half, but couldn't hold back the Hilltoppers' hot-shooting. Hunter Williams and Emil Jones each set career-highs, with Williams scoring 23 points and Jones dishing out nine helpers.
Jones leads the team in scoring with 11.0 points per game, while Williams is in second at 9.9 points per game. Ray Chambers leads the squad in rebounding, grabbing 6.0 boards per game. As a team, the Trojans are shooting 39.9 percent from the field this season and are hitting 6.9 3-pointers per game.
Louisiana-Lafayette dismantled North Texas on Thursday, winning 105-74. The Ragin' Cajuns shot 50 percent from beyond the arc, hitting 10-of-22 3-pointers. Shawn Long leads the team with 16.3 points per game, while Elfrid Payton and Bryant Mbamalu are also scoring in double-figures, at 15.4 and 14.2 points per game, respectively.
Troy is 4-7 all-time against Louisiana-Lafayette, including an 83-78 loss at home last season. Overall, the Trojans have lost three straight in the matchup.
