Volleyball Adds Two Early Signees

TROY, Ala. – Head coach Sonny Kirkpatrick and the Troy volleyball program announced the signing of two early signees on Monday. Rachel Skibba and Reina Terry will both join the Trojans as freshmen in 2014.

"These two young ladies will add a lot to our team next season," Kirkpatrick said. "We have high hopes and expectations for them. With the way we finished the season, we're really looking forward to getting back in the gym this spring."

Skibba, a 5-foot-11 middle hitter and right side, will come to Troy from Mosley High School in Panama City, Fla. Skibba posted 216 kills and a 2.5 kills/set average last season as a senior. She hit .358 and posted 92 service aces as Mosley advanced to the regional semifinals of the FHSAA Class 5A Girls Volleyball Championship.

In her career at Mosley, Skibba recorded 743 kills, 319 blocks and 136 aces.

Terry, a 5-foot-9 setter, will come to Troy from Chattahoochee High School in Alpharetta, Ga. Terry was an outside hitter for the Cougars and recorded 526 kills and a 3.7 kills/set average as a senior last season. Terry also recorded 501 digs as she helped the Cougars to an appearance in the GHSA Class AAAAAA State Volleyball Championship game.

In her career at Chattahoochee, Terry recorded 1,047 kills, 1,241 digs and 181 service aces.

Skibba and Terry join a Troy team that went 13-21 in 2013. However, the Trojans closed with wins in four of their last six matches, including an upset of top-seeded WKU at the Sun Belt Championships inside Trojan Arena.

Troy was a five-set, semifinal loss to UT Arlington (22-20 fifth set) away from playing for its first Sun Belt Championship in program history. The Trojans lose just two seniors from that team in setter Alexandra Alexander and lbero Courtney Cohen.
