Trojans Host Alabama State Saturday Afternoon

TROY, Ala. – Following a thrilling double-overtime win over Alcorn State on Monday, the Troy men's basketball team (3-3) return to the court to take on in-state foe Alabama State (3-2) on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.

The Trojans need two extra periods to knock off Alcorn State on Monday night, 73-70. Wes Hinton forced the first extra frame with a tip-in with just four seconds remaining in regulation, and forced the second overtime with a late free throw. The Trojans went 0-of-10 from the field in the two overtimes, but hit 13-of-16 free throws to secure the win.
Antoine Myers led the way in the win, scoring 19 points, including going 11-of-12 from the charity stripe. Hinton and Kevin Thomas each recorded double-doubles with 15 points and 12 boards.
Myers leads the team in scoring this season at 12.7 points per game. Thomas is right behind him at 11.8 points per contest and leads the team with 8.7 rebounds per game.
Alabama State has won three straight after starting the season 0-2. The Hornets' last game came on November 18, when they defeated Chicago State 79-75 at home.
Three Hornets are scoring in double-figures this season, led by Jamel Waters at 16.4 points per game. Luther Page is Alabama State's top rebounder at 5.4 per contest.
Troy split its two matchups with Alabama State last season, with the home team winning both games. The Trojans are 10-11 all-time against the Hornets.
The game is the last at home before the Trojans take to the road for four straight prior to the Christmas break. The Trojans will take on Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan., then head to Logan, Utah, for three games at the Basketball Travelers Classic hosted by Utah State.
