Troy Notebook: Holmes, Chunn Explosive in Home Finale

Receiver Bryan Holmes and running back Jordan Chunn came up with big plays in Troy's 42-28 victory over Texas State on Friday.

Holmes caught a 58-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter from quarterback Deon Anthony. Holmes also caught a 63-yard pass from Anthony in the third quarter to set up another score. The sophomore receiver would finish the game 128 yards receiving and also rushed for 40 yards on five carries.

Chunn reeled off 47 yards on a first quarter carry; the longest rush of the season for the Trojans. Chunn ran for 83 yards and scored twice. His first score gave him the Troy rushing touchdown record for a freshman running back with 13.

Robinson joins elite company in record books

Quarterback Corey Robinson has set most Troy and many Sun Belt Conference passing and total offense records this season. He joined another elite group of quarterbacks on Friday. Robinson became just the fifth player in NCAA history to gain 3,000 yards in total offense in four career seasons. Dan Lefevour (Central Michigan), Landry Jones (Oklahoma), Aaron Murray (Georgia) and Kellen Moore (Boise State) are the only others to accomplish the feat.

Thomas moves up in record books

With 82 yards on six catches, receiver Eric Thomas moved into seventh in Troy history in single-season receiving yards with 993. He also moved into sixth in program history with 66 receptions this season and fourth in Sun Belt history with 2,655 career receiving yards.

Troy defense creating turnover opportunities

Troy safety Camren Hudson forced a fumble in the second quarter that rolled out of bounds giving the Trojans 25 forced fumbles on the season; the second most in the NCAA. The Trojans have recovered just five of those fumbles.
