CONWAY, Ark. – A three-point lead at the break wasn't enough, as Troy (2-3) fell at Central Arkansas (2-3), 60-53, on Tuesday night.

"The first thing is that we turned the ball over too much," said head coach Phil Cunningham. "When you have 10 assists and 17 turnovers, those aren't good numbers. Those are empty possessions when you turn the ball over. We need to fix those problems."

Troy jumped out to an eight-point lead early in the second half, behind a pair of free throws by Antoine Myers and a 3-pointer by Wes Hinton. The Bears battled back from there, going on a 10-0 run of their own over the next three minutes to take their first lead since the opening minutes.

Both teams battled for the next 10 minutes, keeping the score within four, but the Bears pulled away at the end behind a few deep 3-pointers late in the shot clock.

Myers led the Trojans in scoring with 12 points and added four rebounds. Kevin Thomas was the other Trojan to score in double-figures, finishing with 11 points and a team-high seven boards.

Ryan Williams led the Bears with 13 points, while DeShone McClure and Jalen Jackson each chipped in with 12 points apiece.

The Trojans struggled from the field all game, shooting 37.8 percent (17-of-45), including 29.4 percent (5-of-17) from beyond the arc. The Bears shot 22-of-54 (40.7 %) from the field and 8-of-19 (42.1 %). Troy was outrebounded on the day 33-32.

Both teams went scoreless for a long stretch toward the end of the first half, with Troy snapping the streak at 4:23 to take a 21-20 lead. The Trojans would expand that lead to three points in the final seconds behind a pair of free throws by Kelton Ford.

Troy is back in action on Monday, December 2, against Alcorn State. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m., inside Trojan Arena.
