CONWAY, Ark. – Following a much-needed week off, the Troy men's basketball now travels to Conway, Ark., to face Central Arkansas on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
Live stats, audio and video will be available on the Troy men's basketball schedule page on TroyTrojans.com.
Troy (2-2) knocked off Nicholls State University last Tuesday night in Trojan Arena, 77-62. Jeff Mullahey was the top performer for the Trojans, finishing with career-highs 19 with points and four steals. He was perfect from the line on the day, hitting all nine attempts.
JC Bonny had arguably his best performance as a Trojan. Bonny came off the bench early in the first half and took advantage, scoring 11 points in the opening frame, including 6-of-6 from the line.
The Trojans got up early against the Colonels and maintained a solid lead throughout. Nicholls cut the lead to as little as five points inside the final five minutes, but Troy buckled down from there, holding the Colonels to just two points in the final four minutes.
Troy did the majority of its damage from the free throw line. The Trojans went 31-of-36 from the line, the first time a Troy team had hit at least 30 free throws since February 14, 2001, against Florida A&M.
Hunter Williams currently leads the Trojans at 12.5 point per game. Overall, four Trojans are averaging in double-figures, in Williams, Kevin Thomas, Antoine Myers and Tevin Calhoun. Thomas also leads the team in rebounding at 8.3 boards per game.
Central Arkansas (1-3) lost to Arkansas State on Sunday afternoon, 99-56. The Bears shot just 35 percent from the field (21-of-60) and were outrebounded 48-26. Lannell Brown was the lone Bear to score in double-figures, finishing with 12 points.
The Bears are led by Jalen Jackson at 15.5 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. DaShone McClure is also averaging double-figures, at 13.5 points per game.
Troy has never faced Central Arkansas.
