TROY, Ala. – Head coach Rawia Elsisi and the Troy women's tennis program announced the signing of Trang Huynh on Tuesday. Hyunh will join the Trojans in the spring as a sophomore.
A native of Vung Tau City, Vietnam, Hyunh is currently the No. 1 ranked player in Vietnam, a spot she has held since 2009. She has been ranked as high as 242nd in the ITF U18 World Rankings.
Hyunh has competed in numerous ITF tournaments and in February was a member of the Vietnamese Fed Cup team that played in a Fed Cup qualifier in Kazakhstan.
"We are excited to have Trang Huynh in our Troy tennis family," Elsisi said. "Trang is one of the strongest tennis recruits for Troy women's tennis and comes with a very strong work ethic and tennis experience at both the national and international level.
"The addition of Trang to the team will bring solid depth in both the singles and doubles lineup. We look forward to Trang arriving this January and to a great 2014 season."
The Trojans open the 2014 season on January 17 and 18, traveling to South Carolina to take on USC Upstate, Clemson and Charleston Southern.
