Trojans Prepare for Nicholls State

TROY, Ala. – Troy men's basketball is back in action on Tuesday night inside Trojan Arena at 7 p.m., to face Nicholls State.Â

Troy (1-2) is coming off a loss at UAB last week, 81-69. Troy got down early against the Blazers, hitting just 1-of-12 shots to open the game, but fought hard to get back in the game. The Trojans cut the lead to as little as six points, but couldn't get any closer, eventually falling by 12.
Kevin Thomas led the way for the Trojans with 19 points and seven assists. He shot 9-of-12 from the field and picked up three steals.
Antoine Myers and Hunter Williams were excellent distributing the ball against the Blazers, finishing with seven and six assists respectively.
Williams leads the team this season with 14.7 points per game, while playing 35.7 minutes per game, the most in the Sun Belt. Kevin Thomas leads the team in rebounds at 8.0 per game, the fourth highest mark in the league.
As a team, the Trojans are shooting 44.3 percent from the field and averaging 75 points per game. The team leads the Sun Belt in turnover margin, at +3.3 per game, and is grabbing the most defensive rebounds of any team in the league at 27.7.
Nicholls State (0-2) fell at North Texas on Thursday night, 92-78. Dantrell Thomas led the team with 27 points. T. J. Carpenter was the only other Colonel to score in double-figures, finishing with 17 points.
Thomas leads the Colonels at 17.5 points per game. He also adds 4.5 rebounds per contest, the third highest average on the squad. As a team, the Colonels are scoring 66 points per game and shooting 38.8 percent from the field.
Troy is 3-10 all-time against Nicholls State, with the majority of the matchups coming while both were members of the Gulf South Conference. The last meeting came during the 2001-02 season, with the Trojans defeating the Colonels 98-86 in Troy.
