TROY, Ala. – Troy University and its football team will be on full display on Thursday night as the Trojans host ULM in an ESPNU broadcast game set for 6:30p.m. that has Sun Belt Conference title implications.
The Halloween night game will not only feature new Troy uniforms but also two of the best quarterbacks in the league.
Troy's Corey Robinson holds SBC records in passing yards (12,453), pass attempts (1,669), pass completions (1,082) and touchdown passes (77). ULM's Kolton Browning, who missed two games after suffering an injury against Tulane on Sept. 28, made his return last week in the Warhawks win over Georgia State. Browning is the school's all-time leader in most passing categories including yards, attempts, completions and touchdowns.
The Trojans (5-3, 3-1 Sun Belt) are riding a three-game winning streak and will look to become bowl eligible with a win at home. Under head coach Larry Blakeney, Troy is 97-17-1 at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Blakeney is also in search of career win No. 175.
With three conference games remaining, the Trojans are just a game back of Louisiana-Lafayette in the Sun Belt standings. Troy and ULL will square off in a Thursday night game on Nov. 7. ULM (4-4, 2-1) has four conference game remaining.
Entering the contest with ULM, Troy freshman Jordan Chunn has nine rushing touchdowns, which leads all freshman running backs in the NCAA Chunn has rushed for multiple touchdowns in three of Troy's last four games.
The Trojans defense earned its stripes in the team's win last week over Western Kentucky. On fourth-and-inches and the game hanging in the balance, Troy stopped the nation's leading rusher, Antonio Andrews, to preserve a 32-26 victory.
Defensive end Tyler Roberts leads a much-improved defensive line with four sacks. Troy has turned in 18 sacks on the season, which is tops in the Sun Belt.
Troy is 8-5-1 all-time against ULM including a 6-1 mark at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
