TROY, Ala. – Senior goalkeeper Madison Winter has earned her second Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season, as announced by the league office on Wednesday morning.
Winter picked up her fourth win of the season on Sunday, shutting out in-state rival South Alabama, 1-0. She made seven saves on the day, including six in the second half, on her way to her fourth shutout of the season.Â
It is the second time this season that Winter has been acknowledged by the Sun Belt. She also earned SBC Defensive Player of the Week on October 8, following a pair of shutout victories over Arkansas State and UALR.
In eight appearances this season, Winter has allowed just four goals, posting a 0.56 goals against average and a .895 save percentage.Â
The Trojans currently sit in fifth place in the conference standings with two games to play. Troy will host ULM in its final home game of the season on Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m., before traveling to Louisiana-Lafayette on Sunday to close out the regular season.
