BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Trojans are looking to keep their winning streak alive on Thursday, as they travel to Bowling Green, Ky., to face Western Kentucky at 7 p.m. at E. A. Diddle Arena. The Trojans are looking for payback, after falling at home to the Hilltoppers in early December, 75-71.
Troy (9-12, 4-6) is riding a two-game winning streak, after knocking off Arkansas State and ULM last week, both in overtime. Troy needed a late 3-pointer to send the Arkansas State game to extra time, but gave up a late 3-ball to ULM that forced overtime. At ULM, Emil Jones took over in the bonus minutes, outscoring the Warhawks 8-7 by himself.
Jones leads the team this season with 11.2 points per game, including 14.8 points per game over the last five. Ray Chambers continues to attack the glass, averaging a team-high six boards per contest, while Hunter Williams has proven himself as a distributor as well as a scorer, with 3.5 assists and 9.3 points per game.
Western Kentucky (11-11, 5-6) enters the game having lost three straight, including a 72-53 loss at Middle Tennessee last weekend. T. J. Price has led the team of late, averaging 13.6 points per game this season. Brandon Harris and George Fant have been solid protecting the middle, with each averaging more than six boards per game.
Troy is 7-9 all-time against Western Kentucky, including a loss earlier this season. Last year, the Trojans defeated the Hilltoppers in both meetings, including their first ever win at E. A. Diddle Arena. Troy has defeated WKU at least once in each of the last four seasons.
