Trojans Look to Halt Skid, Host Arkansas State

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's basketball team will look to snap a seven-game losing streak on Thursday when it hosts Arkansas State at Trojan Arena. Tip-off is set for 5:15 p.m.

Troy (3-14, 0-8) comes in having lost seven straight games, but the Trojans played one of their best games of the season at FIU on Saturday, nearly knocking off the Panthers, 82-76.

FIU came in allowing just 58.3 points per game, but Troy shot 44.3 percent and scored 76 against the Panthers, tying LSU for the most points scored against FIU this season.

Joanna Harden led the way with 33 points for Troy on 11-of-19 shooting, including 8-of-9 at the free throw line. Harden enters Thursday's contest averaging a team-high 12.5 points per game and is shooting 83.3 percent from the charity stripe, tops in the Sun Belt.

As a team, Troy is leading the Sun Belt in scoring (74.6 ppg) and rebounding (42.7 rpg), but remains the only winless team in league play, due to some close losses. Four of Troy's eight Sun Belt losses have come by six points or less.

Arkansas State (9-9, 6-3) comes in to Thursday's game having won four straight contests, including their most recent win over ULM on Sunday. ASU is currently tied with North Texas for the lead in the Sun Belt West Division.

The Red Wolves are led by Jane Morrill who averages 14.9 points per game, the sixth best mark in the Sun Belt. As a team, Arkansas State allows just 58.9 points per game, the fourth mark in the conference.
