Trojans Return Home, Face Arkansas State

TROY, Ala. –After an unsuccessful trip to South Florida, the Trojans (7-12, 2-6) return to the friendly confines of Trojan Arena to face Arkansas State (11-7, 5-4) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m., as part of a double-header with the women's team.

Troy dropped a pair of contests in Florida last week, losing at Florida Atlantic, 80-59, and at FIU, 61-55. Troy got out to a slow start in the second half against the Owls and couldn't recover. Against the Panthers, the Trojans led by as many as eight, but could not hold on in the final minutes.
Emil Jones paces the Trojans with 10.9 points per game this season, while his 5.9 boards per game are second best. Hunter Williams and Antoine Myers are contributing solid numbers, with each averaging over 8.5 points per game. Ray Chambers has been strong of late, improving is season averages to 7.4 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. The Trojan offense has protected the ball well all season, only turning the ball over 10.5 times per game, the seventh fewest in the country.
Arkansas State knocked off ULM last weekend, 63-39, in Jonesboro, Ark., snapping a two-game skid. Ed Townsel leads the way for the Red Wolves with 15.4 points per game. Brandon Peterson has been a dominant force all season, averaging 11.0 points and 9.4 boards per game.
Troy leads the all-time series 5-3, but has dropped the last two. Last season, Troy traveled to Arkansas State and lost 83-59.
