HAPPY NEW YEAR 2013!
Let's Make 2013 the Year of the Troy Trojans!
I hope all of Trojan Nation had a wonderful holiday season! As we have turned over the calendar on another year, I want to challenge our coaches, staff, student-athletes, donors, ticket holders and fans to do what you can on a daily basis to make 2013 the Year of the Troy Trojans. We want 2013 to be the most successful year in Troy Athletics history.
You will notice in the subtitle of this forum I purposely used the word “make” as opposed to “hope”. I point this out to say that we have to be, and will be, proactive in the pursuit of success, as opposed to sitting back and hoping it happens. Luck and good fortune certainly play a part in success, but there is no substitute for having a vision of how to succeed and the hard work to achieve that success.
For our coaches and staff, the challenge is to reach levels of success that take our individual sports to the elite level in the Sun Belt Conference. In order to achieve this level of success, we must be willing to outwork our opponents, not be afraid to make changes in methodology or makeup of our programs, be creative in our methods to achieve success, have a “Can Do”/Winner's attitude, and create an expectation of winning in our sports.
For our student-athletes, the challenge is to work every day to get better. Remember that any day you “take off” your opponents are working to get better than you. Included in this work is the classroom, the practice field and your personal life (as a son, daughter, brother, sister, dad, mom, cousin, friend, teammate, etc.).
For our donors, ticket holders and fans, we thank you for your passionate support of Troy Athletics. We are well aware of the fact that our overall levels of success of late have not met either yours or our expectations. Please know that we are working to make the improvements necessary to succeed. We ask that you continue your support by buying tickets, attending Troy Athletic events, making donations, buying and wearing Trojan apparel, and “recruiting” others to share your passion for Troy Athletics. I assure you that your investment in Trojan Athletics will have a positive return with regard to the success of our teams.
I wish each of you and your family a blessed and prosperous 2013. Thank you for your support and dedication to Troy Athletics. Remember, let's make 2013 the Year of the Troy Trojans!
