Trojans Seeking Consecutive Tournament Titles

TROY, Ala. – After posting a 3-0 mark last weekend, the Troy volleyball team will look for its second straight tournament title as the Trojans travel to Kennesaw State for the 2012 Owls Classic.
The Trojans are set to open the tournament against Chattanooga at 9 a.m. CST on Friday before taking on North Carolina Central at 4 p.m. CST. Troy will continue action on Saturday as it takes on Tennessee State at 1:30 p.m. CST before closing with tournament host Kennesaw State at 6 p.m. CST.

Troy (3-4) dropped its home opener on Tuesday to an undefeated Auburn squad at Sartain Hall, but prior to that traveled to UT Martin and took the tournament title at the First State Skyhawk Invitational after defeating UT Martin, DePaul and Wright State.
True freshman Blair Winston was named tournament MVP after picking up 47 kills in 14 sets and hitting .282. The Marietta, Ga., native is now averaging 2.63 kills/set on the season, the best mark on the team.
Junior libero Courtney Cohen was also named to the all-tournament team last weekend after recording 79 digs in 14 sets for the Trojans. She is now averaging 5.33 digs/set, the second best mark in the Sun Belt, and for her efforts last weekend, was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week.
Senior Breanna Cullity has been named to two all-tournament teams in Troy's two tournaments thus far on the season and is averaging 2.37 kills/set with a .303 attack percentage. She has also posted a team-high 1.07 blocks/set average.
Chattanooga (4-3) is coming off of a mid-week win over Alabama A&M, but struggled last weekend, going 0-3 at with losses to ETSU, Clemson and Charlotte. Troy is 2-2 all-time against Chattanooga with the last meeting coming in 2010, a Mocs win on a neutral floor in Jacksonville, Fla.
North Carolina Central (1-8) enters having dropped four straight matches, including the most recent, a mid-week loss at home to Campbell. Troy and the Eagles have never met.
Tennessee State (3-4) enters after a tough road trip to Portland where they loss to the Pilots in five-sets before falling to UNLV and Idaho State in straight sets. Troy is 6-0 all-time against Tennessee State with the last meeting coming last season on a neutral court at Mercer.
Host Kennesaw State (4-3) opens their home schedule after dropping three straight matches last weekend to Southern Utah, New Mexico and Maryland-Eastern Shore at a tournament hosted by Savannah State.
Troy is 2-1 all-time against Kennesaw State, including a five-set win last season in this same tournament.
