The Trojans will open their conference schedule on the road at No.24 WKU before traveling to Middle Tennessee for a match on Saturday.
“I thought we did some really good things tonight,” Troy head coach Sonny Kirkpatrick said. “Defensively we picked up our effort and we needed to going into this weekend.”

Katherine Huanec led the way for the Rattlers with seven kills while Karol Marquez posted a match-high 18 digs.
The Trojans held Florida A&M to a .000 attack percentage in the first set as a five-point run midway through helped seal a 25-13 Troy win. The Trojans hit .289 in the opening frame with 16 kills and just five errors.
The Troy defense was just as outstanding in the second set, holding the Rattlers to a -.077 attack percentage and just six kills on the way to a 25-18 win.
The final set was the closest of the three as the Trojans trailed midway through the frame, 16-14. Troy tied the set up at 16-16 in what was one of six ties in the frame. The Trojans pulled ahead late at 23-18, but the Rattlers cut it to two at 23-21 before Troy iced the match with a 25-21 third-set win.
“Playing WKU and Middle Tennessee is always a challenge,” Kirkpatrick said. “It's good to see where we stand in the Sun Belt by playing the best two teams right out of the gate.”
The Trojans return to the court this weekend as they open Sun Belt play at WKU on Friday night before traveling to Middle Tennessee on Saturday night.
