Offense Battles Back on Day Four of Troy Fall Camp

TROY, Ala. – It was the defense who ruled Saturday's Troy football practice, but the offense roared back with an impressive session on Sunday as the Trojans worked out for nearly three hours in Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The Trojans will strap on full pads for the first time on Monday for their 8:15 a.m. practice. The Trojans will mix in a pair of two-a-day practice sessions this upcoming week as they work towards a scrimmage on Saturday.
Troy has won a share of five of the past six Sun Belt Conference titles and is the only school to represent the league in five bowl games. Troy has 11 more Sun Belt victories than any other school in the league since the Trojans joined the Sun Belt in 2004. The Trojans also have a Sun Belt leading 84 all-conference selections and 38 first team all-conference selections over that same time period.
Troy opens the 2012 season on Sept. 1 at in-state rival UAB in Legion Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. and the game will be televised live by Fox College Sports.
Season tickets for Troy's record six home games are available for purchase by logging on to TroyTrojans.com or by calling 1-877-878-WINS. Fans can also purchase tickets to Troy's six road games through the Troy ticket office.
Head Coach Larry Blakeney
“Second day in shells and I think that we got a lot done especially in the early stages of practice. A lot of good tackling circuit stuff on defense and I thought the offense really came back to practice today after sort of getting stopped yesterday. We did some good things in the team segments. I'm pleased as to where we are.
On the offensive line
“We've got some guys in there who are coming along and some older guys that have played a good bit of football. When they are all well, we are pretty good and deep.
Quarterback Corey Robinson
“It happens every year; it's install for us early in practice. Defense is supposed to be ahead of the offense and that's how it has been every year since I've been here. I'm glad to see that. I'm glad to see those guys are striving to get better, and they are doing it. The defense is getting a lot better. We are starting to get out of our install and starting to run our playbook so it's going to hopefully start turning the other way.
“We had a good day. We can mix it up now that we are done with our install. We can start running our playbook and not the same plays all day. We've got two deep at every position which is really good for us, and I feel like it is going to be a good season for us.
“The offensive line, I can't give them enough credit. They are always playing well and they are getting better every day at picking up blitzes. The offense and defense, we get into out here, but that's just part of being hot and that's just a part of everyone wanting to win and getting better. Our number one goal is to get back to the Sun Belt Championship.”
