Troy’s Tyler Vaughn Named to Capital One Academic All-District Team

TROY, Ala. – Troy University sophomore Tyler Vaughn has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District First Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Friday morning.
Vaughn has hit safely in 10 straight games and carries a .333 batting average into this weekend's series at Louisiana-Lafayette. Vaughn has committed just three errors all season at second base and has hit nine of Troy's Sun Belt leading 102 doubles.
He was named the Louisville Slugger National Hitter of the Week earlier this season after hitting .800 with three doubles over a four-game stretch. He reached base in 10 consecutive plate appearances over a three-game period after being hit by a pair of pitches around his eight hits.
The Murphy, N.C., native has a 3.91 grade-point-average in chemistry and is one of just two sophomores on the all-district team. Troy's CoSIDA district includes schools from Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina; Vaughn was one of just 11 players selected to the all-district team and will be on the ballot for the Academic All-America Team.
