TROY, Ala. – After a top-five finish in its last event in South Carolina, the Troy men's golf team will look to improve as they compete in the 16th Annual ASU Red Wolf Intercollegiate, which will begin Monday morning.
The tournament will take place at the par-72, 6,565-yard RidgePointe Country Club in Jonesboro, Ark. The past three champions of the tournament all rein from the Sun Belt Conference. Louisiana-Lafayette claimed the team title in 2009 with Middle Tennessee and UALR capturing the title in 2010 and 2011.
Louisiana-Lafayette's Kyle Pritchard captured the individual title in 2009 after carding a three-round total of 211. In 2010, Jason Millard brought the top-medalist honors back to the Sun Belt as he carded a total of 209 to win as a member of Middle Tennessee's team. Meridian CC's Brandt Garon won last year's individual title with a 135 after a rain-shortened tournament.
Ricky Casko enters the two-day, three round tournament ranked eighth in the Sun Belt with an average score of 72.76. Casko will look to improve on his top finish for the 2011-2012 year, where he finished T10 twice.
Freshmen Tolver Dozier and Jake Tucker have been neck-and-neck all year competing for the second highest ranking on the team. Tucker enters ranked 15th and Dozier just one spot behind in 16th.
The tournament field will feature 22 teams, with two ranked in the top-100 according to Golfweek.com. The field will consist of host Arkansas State, UALR, Austin Peay, Belmont, DePaul, Drake, Eastern Illinois, No. 87 Jacksonville State, Louisiana-Monroe, Meridian Community College, Missouri State, Murray State, Northern Iowa, Oklahoma City, Oral Roberts, Southern Illinois, SIUE, Tennessee-Martin, Tennessee State, Texas-Pan American, Troy and No. 79 Vanderbilt.
