TROY, Ala. – Troy University student-athletes participated in the National Education Association Read Across America program as players from all of Troy's athletic teams visited Charles Henderson Middle School throughout the week of Feb. 27 to Mar. 2.
“The Troy community shows our student-athletes a lot of support and this is just one small way we can give back to the community,” Troy academic coordinator Emily Cobb said. “The kids think our players are superstars when they walk into the classrooms, and they listen to the message of how important school is to their future.”
Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on (or around) March 2, the birthday of beloved children's author Dr. Seuss.
Troy student-athletes read books, shared their experience with reading and answered questions from the students at Charles Henderson Middle School.
