March 2012
Guest speaker (Relay for Life): We talked about the possibility of putting together a team of Student-Athletes to walk in relay for life event.
Relay for Life raises money for the American Cancer Society. This walk will take place Friday the 31st of March from 3:00pm till 3:00am to symbolize that the ongoing searcher for a cure will continue.
Celebrity Waiters: March 26th from 5-10pm, Momma Goldberg's Coaches are encouraged to come as well. Live music and raise money for relay for life, which will go to the American Cancer Society.
Times:
5-6pm –Cheerleading (5), Men's Basketball (3), Girls' Basketball (3)
6-7pm- Men and Women Track Team (10)
7-8pm- Softball, Baseball, Soccer (10)
8-9pm- Football (3), Men Golf (3), Women's Tennis (3), Women's Golf (3)
9-10pm- Football (10)

Spent most of the meeting discussing READ ACROSS AMERICA: each team signed up for a time slot to go to the middle school in town & read to the children.
Signed practice logs from the compliance office.
Mentioned Relay for Life again and next month will have a guest speaker to tell us more about it.
SAAC agreed to participate in fundraising for Relay for Life
-Celebrity Waiter night at Momma Goldberg's set to March 26th (student-athletes volunteer to be waiter/waitress and collect tips/donations for Relay for Life)

Some possible community service projects for spring
1) Relay for Life (actual event is in March)
2) Celebrity Waiter (basically the student athletes volunteer to be waiter/waitress at a local restaurant and collect tips/donations for Relay for Life)
3) Habitat for Humanity
4) Big Brothers Big Sisters spring event (maybe have kids come to baseball &/or softball game)
SAAC would like student athlete's to come out & support other student athlete's as a “cardinal game” where they wear their cardinal shirts and come to a specific spring game:
Basketball-Feb. 2 (student athlete's with a 3.0 will be dressed up)

Tennis: date is whenever the men & women play Auburn
