TROY, Ala. – With the Troy football team's annual T-Day scrimmage game approaching just a few days from now, the Trojans took to the field of Veterans Memorial on Thursday for their sixth spring practice.
After starting the last few games of 2010 at MLB, and all of 2011 in the position, senior Brannon Bryan will be the guy calling out plays and leading the defensive unit, according to coaches and players.
“Brannon is doing a real good job with the new position and he's adapting well to it,” senior defensive lineman Tony Davis said.
Davis, who is also forming into a leader for the defensive unit, noted that it is still early, but the defense is doing well with the new package.
“I like the new scheme,” Davis said. “Everybody is playing new positions and everybody is learning and adjusting. We've still got a lot of practice left, but by the time we get to the end we should be rolling.”
With Saturday's T-Day game approaching, Davis said the defense is looking forward to the action and is ready to compete as a unit.
“Saturday we're looking to come out and compete at the highest level and execute the defense,” Davis said. “We're looking to progress from the practices throughout the week.”
All practices are free and open to the public, and Saturday's scrimmage, which is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., will also be free.
