Trojans In Top 10 After Two Rounds

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – After rounds one and two of the UALR Women's Golf Classic, the defending champion Oral Roberts Golden Eagles lead by four strokes over No. 31 Tulsa and ULM.
Oral Roberts' Crystal Reeves leads the field of 99 after shooting a one-under par 143 in the first 36-holes of the 54-hole tournament. Troy (312-298-610) finished the day at 34-over par tied for 10th at the 6,034-yard, par-72 Diamante Country Club.
The Trojans were led by senior Haley Lawrence (76-73-149). The Prattville, Ala. native carded nine-hole scores of 36 and 40 for a total of 76 to finish the first round at four-over par, tied for 32nd. Lawrence then bounced back in the second round with a one-over par 73 to finish the day at five-over par, tied for 17th.
"I am whole different person from last week,” Lawrence said. “I have been working on my drives and I am more confident than I have been.”
Sofia Bjorkman (78-74-152), who entered Monday's contest ranked seventh in the Sun Belt, finished her first round with a six-over par 78. Bjorkman improved in the second round shooting a two-over par to put her at eight-over, tied for 34th after day one.
Langley Vannoy (84-73-157) entered Monday's tournament shooting an average of 77.05. The Pensacola, Fla. native shot seven over that in round one with a score of 84, but came away with a huge improvement in the second round to shoot a 73 to finish at 13-over par, tied for 58th.
Sydney Conrad (79-78-157) also completed day one tied for 58th after shooting a 79 and 78 in rounds one and two. Taylor McGraw (79-79-158) finished only one stroke behind Conrad and Vannoy with a 14-over par performance heading into tomorrow's final round tied for 67th.
“We finished out as a team really strong on the final 9 holes,” Lawrence said. “After playing 36 holes it is easy to start to slack but I think we finished strong and that is really important. We need another strong finish for the final 18 holes."
