Eight Troy Student-Athletes Nominated for NCAA Career in Sports Forum

TROY, Ala. -- Eight Troy University student-athletes were nominated for selection to attend the 2012 NCAA Career in Sports Forum to be held at the Downtown Marriott in Indianapolis, Ind., June 7-10.
Troy's eight student-athletes nominated were To'neko Freeman (track & field), Logan Pierce (baseball), Elizabeth Clough (track & field/volleyball), Ruth Sutcliffe (soccer), Boone Shear (baseball), Ryan Turner (football), Devin Von Pingel (volleyball) and Veronica Bryant (cross country).
If selected by the NCAA, the student-athletes will be allowed to choose between two developmental tracks; the coaching track and the administrator track.
The 2012 coaching track will offer professional development for student-athletes interested in coaching the sport of basketball, bowling, cross country/track & field, football, lacrosse, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis and volleyball. While the administrator track will offer professional development for both internal and external operations of an intercollegiate athletics department including, but not limited to academics, communications, compliance, development, event management, marketing, etc.
“This is a great way for our student-athletes to develop both personally and professionally. The student-athletes selected for nomination are all sport and fitness management majors, all with great future potential in the industry. If selected, they will represent our University exceptionally well,” Director of Student-Athlete Services, Matt Mayotte said.
Applicant information is due to the NCAA by Feb., 17 with selections being announced on April, 6.
