Cohen Named Academic All-District; Trojans Close Regular Season

MIAMI, Fla. – As the Troy volleyball team prepares to close its regular season with matches at FIU and Florida Atlantic, one Trojan has earned a very highly regarded academic award.
Junior libero Courtney Cohen was named to the Capital One Academic All-District first team, making her eligible to earn a spot on the Academic All-America team. Cohen, who leads the Sun Belt with 500 digs and a 4.67 digs per set average.
Cohen, who is a biology/biomedical sciences major with a 3.94 GPA, has earned the honor for the second straight year. The Capital One Academic All-America teams are sponsored and voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Cohen is the only Sun Belt student-athlete to be named Academic All-District this season.
The award comes as the Trojans (19-10, 9-4) prepare to close the regular season with a tough road trip to FIU and Florida Atlantic. Troy takes on FIU on Friday at 5:30 p.m. CST before traveling to Florida Atlantic on Saturday for a 12 p.m. CST match.

The Trojans currently sit in second place in the Sun Belt standings, with a half game lead over UALR who plays North Texas and ULM this weekend. Two wins for Troy guarantee the Trojans the second seed in next week's Sun Belt Championships.
FIU (8-18, 5-8) needs to win both of its matches this weekend to clinch a berth in the conference tournament as they host South Alabama after hosting Troy on Friday.
Florida Atlantic (6-18, 1-12) has been eliminated from the postseason picture.
