Trojans Take Winning Streak on the Road

JONESBORO, Ark. – The Troy volleyball team returns to the road this weekend as they face a tough Sun Belt road trip to Arkansas State and UALR. The Trojans take on Arkansas State on Friday at 7 p.m. and UALR on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Troy (12-7, 3-1) hits the road with a three-match winning streak under its belt as the Trojans swept Sun Belt East Division foes FIU and Florida Atlantic at home last weekend. The pair of wins left the Trojans in second place in the Sun Belt East Division behind No.20 WKU.
The Trojans were led on the weekend by Kayla Pickart who posted 31 kills in her six sets with just eight errors. Pickart is one of four Trojans leading a balanced offense with kills per set averages above 2.00. True freshman Blair Winston leads the team at 2.89 kills per set while Pickart (2.60), Breanna Cullity (2.55) and Devin Von Pingel (2.23) are all over the 2.00 mark.
Alexandra Alexander is slowly climbing the Sun Belt leaderboard as her 9.09 assists per set average sits sixth in the league.
The Trojans have played tough defense all season as they sit second in the conference with an opponent attack percentage of just .151. The Trojans lead the Sun Belt with a 15.91 digs per set average while Courtney Cohen's individual 4.87 digs per set average is second in the league.
Arkansas State (12-8, 2-2) is coming off of a mid-week, five-set win on the road over Southeast Missouri, and a split of two Sun Belt matches at home last weekend. The Red Wolves were swept by North Texas before sweeping ULM.
Troy is 0-8 all-time Arkansas State, including a 0-3 mark in Jonesboro, Ark. The Trojans are playing ASU on the road for the second straight season as they were swept by the Red Wolves last year.
UALR (8-8, 4-0) enters as the Sun Belt West Division leader after starting league play undefeated. The Trojans have won three of the four matches in five-sets, with the other being a sweep of ULM. UALR is led by All-Sun performer who leads the nation with a 5.45 kills per set average.
Troy is 1-6 all-time against UALR including a 0-3 mark in Little Rock, Ark.
