Conference Best Trojans Looking for Second Straight Tournament Victory

TROY, Ala. – On the heels of its first team championship of the year last week at the JU Courtyard Classic, the Troy women's golf team will look to close out its fall season with another victory Monday and Tuesday at the 2012 Blue Raider Invitational hosted by Middle Tennessee.
The tournament will take place at the Old Fort Golf Club in Murfreesboro, Tenn., and will feature a 54-hole format with 36 on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday.
18 teams will take part in the event, including UALR, Austin Peay, Belmont, Jacksonville State, Lamar, UMKC, No. 49 Morehead State, Murray State, Northern Iowa, Oral Roberts, South Alabama, Southern Illinois, Southern Miss, Tennessee Tech, UTEP, Troy, WKU and host Middle Tennessee.
No. 74 Emelie Westrup (UALR) enters as the only player in the tournament featured in Golfstat.com's top-100.
Sofia Bjorkman, Taylor McGraw, Brooke Spinks, Langley Vannoy and Sara Fennvik will make up the five member team for the Trojans.
Bjorkman enters as the No. 1 golfer in the Sun Belt Conference with a 73.22 stroke average over nine rounds. She will look to better her best finish of a tie for fourth, a feat she's accomplished twice this season.
Langley Vannoy sits as the tenth best in the conference, coming off her best finish of the season in a tie for tenth. Through nine rounds, Vannoy has averaged a score of 76 and has recorded a low round of 71.
Through just two events, Brooke Spinks enters as the 11th-best individual in the Sun Belt with a 76.33 average and a best finish of a tie for eighth.
Coming off her best-career finish last week at the JU Courtyard Classic, Taylor McGraw has improved to No. 12 in the conference with a 75.56 scoring average though nine rounds.
Sara Fennvik rounds out the five Troy members as the 23rd best in the conference averaging a score of 78.
As a team, Troy leads the conference with a 75.64 stroke average and has carded three top ten finishes to this point.
The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 on Monday and Tuesday.
