Trojans Set for Rematch With Jaguars

Troy, Ala. – The Troy women's basketball team will wrap up a two game road stretch when they travel to take on South Alabama on Sunday at 3:00 pm. The game will be televised on the CSS network.

Troy (1-18, 0-8) will continue to be led by their seniors DeAngela Sword and Tenia Manuel. Sword still leads her team in scoring averaging 12.4 points per game. She has broken the double-digit scoring mark in 15 of 19 games this season and has led the team in scoring in 12 games.

Tenia Manuel leads the Trojans in rebounding averaging 6.7 rebounds per game. She has led the team in rebounding in 11 games this season with her best performance against Belhaven with 11 total rebounds. Manuel is also the Trojans second leading scorer with 8.3 points per game.

In the Trojans last time out against Middle Tennessee, Troy established a team effort in points scored. Of the 11 Troy players that made it on the court, nine players posted 3+ points. Ieva Nagy, Brooke Bowie, Kourtney Coleman and Jasmine Pitts all tied with six points to finish right behind the leading scorer DeAngela Sword who ended with 10 points.

South Alabama brings with them their own squad capable of sharing in the scoring effort as well. The Jaguars are led by an offensive trio starting with Mansa El who leads the Jaguars with 11.3 points per game. She is closely followed by Sandra Peterson with 9.6 points per game and Camille Reynolds with 9.0.

The Trojans trail the Jaguars in the overall series 16-17; 6-10 in Mobile.

Troy hosted the South Alabama in Sartain Hall earlier in the season where the Trojans fell 53-46. Despite the loss, the Trojans held the Jaguars to only 16 field goals; the least amount of field goals any opponent has made against Troy this season.
