Kolunija named AVSR Global Player of the Week Special Mention
TROY, Ala. – After capturing the Mercer Bear Brawl last weekend, the Troy volleyball team takes the Sun Belt's longest winning streak to Atlanta on Tuesday to take on Georgia State.
The Trojans (5-2) have won five straight including a perfect 3-0 at the Mercer Bear Brawl this past weekend.
“We had a good weekend, but we're only as good as our next match,” head coach Sonny Kirkpatrick said. “Georgia State is a really good team, and if we hope to win, we'll have to play better than we have all year.”

Head Coach: Sonny Kirkpatrick (Sixth Season)
The Trojans enter Tuesday's match with a record of 5-2, the best start since 2003 when the Trojans began the year 6-1. That was also the last season the Trojans posted a winning record.
The Trojans captured the Mercer Bear Brawl title last weekend after winning matches against Mercer, Norfolk State and Tennessee State.
The Trojans were led by Bear Brawl MVP Devin Von Pingel who sits second in the Sun Belt with a .437 attack percentage. Von Pingel has recorded just 10 errors thus far on the year in 23 sets. She is one of four Trojans averaging over 2.00 kills per set.
Natasha Kolunija was also named to the Mercer Bear Brawl All-Tournament team. She was also recognized by AVSR Global as a Special Mention Player of the Week.
The Trojans are hitting .215 as a team while holding their opponents to a .130 attack percentage.
Courtney Cohen's 5.12 digs per set average leads the squad and places her second in the Sun Belt. Brittany McCelland posted 11 total blocks last weekend, bringing her season total to 18.
McClelland now has 213 career total blocks, placing her fifth on the Trojans career leaderboard. Her 16 block assists in 2011 bring her career total in that category to 179, placing her third on that career list.
GEORGIA STATE
Overall Record: 4-3
Last Time Out: L (1-3) vs. Charleston Southern
Head Coach: Tami Audia (Second Season)
Series: GSU leads 10-7
The Panthers enter Tuesday's contest after going 1-2 at their own Georgia State Invitational last weekend. Prior to that, GSU went 3-1 at the Memphis Invitational to open the season.
The Panthers are led by Muki Kangwa who averages 4.74 kills per set. Vineece Verdun leads GSU with a .429 attack percentage on the year. Emily Averbeck's 4.71 digs per set pace Georgia State.
The two squads met a year ago in Troy at Sartain Hall with the Trojans winning a five-set thriller. However, Georgia State leads the all-time series, 10-7.
