Baseball Completes First Day of Practice

The Trojans opened up fall practice with a three-hour workout at Riddle-Pace Field
Head coach Bobby Pierce seemed very pleased with the first day of practice, as the Trojans are looking to replace three starters in the infield and solidify the weekend rotation for the 2012 season.
“It was a good, solid first fall day for our team,” Pierce said. “ I like the way our team has really worked at it. I like what we saw and what we got accomplished today.”
Pierce said the coaching staff and the returning players did a great job during four-on-one work and he likes how the team chemistry is starting to build early on in fall camp.
“We have had 5 or 6 weeks since they have reported for school to get on same page, the coaches did a great job of getting guys prepared, returning guys did a nice job of getting the new guys on the same page of what we're trying to do,” Pierce said.
Pierce liked the team's preparation and lack of complacency, despite the success of the ball club last season.
“Right now for the fall for us it's more getting to know our new guys, but with that said I have liked the progress we've seen in our returning players,” Pierce said. “ I'm really happy with what we've seen with the work ethic and the team chemistry.”
Troy will take the practice field again Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at Riddle-Pace Field.
The Trojans will scrimmage Thursday, September 29, Friday September 30, and Saturday, October 2, of this week.
