Whitehead Joins Compliance Staff

Troy University Director of Compliance, Kit Alewine, announced on Monday the hiring of Jeffrey Whitehead as compliance coordinator.
Whitehead comes to Troy after finishing his Master of Arts, Sports Fitness & Health at the University of Central Florida. While there, Whitehead served as the graduate assistant for the athletics compliance office.
“Jeff will be a great addition to the Troy University family,” Alewine said. “His previous experience as a graduate assistant in Central Florida's compliance office will undoubtedly supplement our compliance staff's efforts to be the best in our field.”
As the compliance coordinator for Troy, Whitehead will be responsible for ensuring all athletes are adhering with the rules of the NCAA.
“Understanding what it takes to run a compliance office, and how difficult it must be to oversee compliance for the entire athletics program, I am here to help Kit and the whole athletics department in being as thorough as possible,” Whitehead said.
Whitehead comes from a two-person office at UCF. He said he understands the time demands that go along with having a small staff, and also how his previous experience has prepared him for this job.
“I have learned to love and attempt to understand the world that is athletics compliance,” Whitehead said.
The NCAA manual was the required text for his compliance class at UCF, and Whitehead says he is here to exhaust all possible options for coaches, administrators and student athletes.
“Jeff is an extremely intelligent young man who is eager to learn,” Lisa Archbald, Associate Athletic Director at Saint Peter's College, said. “He is an up and coming professional who will be very successful in this industry.”
Archbald also said Whitehead is a very dedicated person, which will make him a good fit at Troy.
“I am most looking forward to being a part of the Trojan family,” Whitehead said. “I had a great experience on my interview, and everyone I talked to made me feel very welcome and I could sense the family atmosphere.”
Whitehead's office is located in the Davis Field House where he expects to hit the ground running.
