Trojans Set to Open 2011 Training Camp

The Troy University Trojans will prepare to open training camp for the 2011 football season on Tuesday when the returning and new members of the squad report to campus.
The Trojans will required to check-in by 11:30 a.m. before having an afternoon of orientation meetings with various members of the athletics department staff, including facilities, equipment, strength, academics, athletic training and compliance.
Wednesday will also be filled with meetings in addition to picture day.
The Trojans will hit the practice field for the first time on Thursday, August 4, with practices scheduled each morning through Friday, August 12, at 8:30 a.m. The team will have two-a-day practices on Tuesday, August 9, and Thursday, August 11, with the second practice session slated for 7 p.m.
The team will hold its first scrimmage on Saturday morning, August 13, at 10:30 a.m. The Trojans' Media Day will follow the scrimmage in the Stadium Club at Veterans Memorial Stadium. This event is open only to members of the media.
The Trojans will continue with morning practices on August 15 and 16 prior to the start of fall semester classes. Team practices will move to the regular season schedule with the start of school with practices slated for 3:30 p.m. daily. Monday practices will be at 6:30 p.m.
The Trojans will be looking to extend their streak of five straight Sun Belt Conference titles in 2011. Troy has won the title outright twice and has shared the crown three times, including in 2010.
Troy will open the 2011 season on Saturday, September 3, at Clemson. The Game is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. (ct) start and will be available online through ESPN3.com.
The Trojans are scheduled for no fewer than six televised games this season. The game at Arkansas on Sept. 17 will be televised by CSS with a 6:30 p.m. kickoff.
Other games currently set for television include Middle Tennessee (9/24) and ULM (10/15) on CSS and CST as the Sun Belt Game of the Week, FIU (10/25) on ESPN2 and Navy (11/5) on CBS College Sports. In addition, IMG College will televise games during the season and any of the Trojans' final four conference games are eligible for selection as the Sun Belt Game of the Week.
