Trojans play 12 home matches this season
2011 Volleyball Schedule
TROY, Ala. (TroyTrojans.com) – The Troy University Department of Athletics and the volleyball program released the 2011 schedule Monday afternoon. The schedule includes three tournaments at the beginning of the season, and 12 home matches at Sartain Hall.
The schedule also includes three NCAA Tournament teams from a season ago.
The Trojans open the 2011 slate on the road in the state of Alabama at the UAB Tournament, highlighted by a season-opening match against in-state for Samford on August 26. The tournament also features UNC-Asheville and Akron.
The Trojans host their first home match of the season against Alabama State on August 30; before hitting the road to play in the Mercer Tournament highlighted by a match against Mercer on their home floor on September 2.
Following their second tournament, the Trojans stay on the road to face Georgia State on September 6, before playing in the Kennesaw State Tournament the following weekend. At that tournament, the Trojans face in-state foe UAB, Kennesaw State and Eastern Kentucky.
The Trojans face their first NCAA Tournament team from 2010 on September 13, when they play host to Alabama A&M at Sartain Hall, before hitting the road to face Jacksonville University on September 18.
Following the match against Jacksonville, the Trojans play their next three matches at home – including two Sun Belt Conference matches. After facing Mercer on September 20, TROY opens the conference slate against ULM on September 23 and Louisiana-Lafayette on September 25.
The Trojans play seven of their next nine matches on the road – all against Sun Belt Conference teams – with a trip to Arkansas (UALR and Arkansas State), matches against NCAA Tournament teams WKU (October 7) and Middle Tennessee (October 8), followed by a match at in-state foe South Alabama (October 14).
After two matches at home against Denver (October 21) and North Texas (October 22), the Trojans hit the road to Florida to face FIU (October 28) and Florida Atlantic (October 29).
Returning from their trip to Florida, the Trojans close the regular season with five consecutive home matches, beginning with South Alabama on November 1. The Trojans then face Middle Tennessee (November 4) and WKU (November 5), before closing the regular season on homecoming weekend against Florida Atlantic (November 11) and FIU (November 12).
